I’ve read from an article by Jerry West, SEO Consultant of webmarketingnow company that link baiting is such a good idea according to Matt Cutts,a senior engineer at google. I don’t think search engines regulates your link bait since Matt Cutts himself is pleased about it. But Jerry warned us that we should make sure that our “ntent of link baiting must inform or educate on the topic at hand coz if we lie or exaggerate it, it will come back to haunt you later.

I agree, with your comment, and with what Jerry said. I don’t think it will ever be possible to fully regulate linkbait - after all as the above post professes, “good content is good link-bait,” but Google or others could start to devalue content and pages referencing “Top 10 this“, or “Top 5 that“.

Which might not be such a bad idea. Although those top ten lists are addicting!
