Yahoo, Bing are Dead

In reviewing analytics over the last year we’ve seen a trend. Yahoo & Bing are dead. On average google is sending upwards of 95% of ALL search engine traffic, in some cases nearly 99% of all traffic. The trend varies only slightly from site to site, and across different industries.

Take a look at the screen shot below:

Yahoo & Bing Are Dead

Bing is sending a full 0.3% of all search engine traffic to the above site. That’s just crazy. And Yahoo isn’t far behind sending just 11 people out of 1000, or 1.1% meaning Google is sending the above site a total of 97.5% (even higher if you include AOL as Google which uses Google’s technology to power its search engines).

The message here is simple – what to do about it is not.

Yahoo/Bing Are Dead

So what? Well, I for one still believe in AdCenter (the system that powers advertising on Bing & Yahoo) – however perhaps the above numbers will dictate how much time and effort you put into your advertising on those networks.
