Harry Chapin Food Bank is one of 250 finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, which will award vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations based on votes from the public.
Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program will showcase five nonprofit organizations each day for 50 days at Facebook.com/Toyota. Visitors to the page will receive two votes each day to select two separate winning organizations they feel are most deserving of new Toyota vehicles. Harry Chapin Food Bank will be one of the five organizations highlighted for voting on Nov. 10th. Please visit www.100carsforgood.com and vote!
Supporters are encouraged to vote for the Harry Chapin Food Bank in its quest for a new Toyota Highlander. If the Harry Chapin Food Bank receives the most votes and is awarded the vehicle, it will be used to pick up donated food, participate in community events and assist partner agencies. The Harry Chapin Food Bank is an affiliate of Feeding America, the nation’s food bank network. The food bank provides food each month to more than 30,000 people through a network of 150 partner agencies that run soup kitchens, pantries and other programs in Lee, Hendry, Glades, Charlotte and Collier counties. More than 1 million pounds of food are distributed by the Harry Chapin Food Bank monthly. For each donated dollar, the food bank can distribute $6 worth of food and grocery items. In fiscal year 2012-2013, the Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed 16.6 million pounds of food and other grocery items valued at more than $27 million. This is roughly the equivalent of 13.8 million meals to people in need.
