The Power of Thankfulness | Do Your Customers Hear “Thank You” Enough?

Author: Valerie Baker

It could just be the cold front coming through, but I feel something special in the air today. There is a freshness; a crispness to it that ignites imagination, commemoration and celebration. Yes, I live in Florida, and yes the cold front only brought our highs down into the mid-60s; however, isn’t that what it’s supposed to be like in paradise? Yet, whether the chill in the air leads you to turtlenecks, parkas or long-sleeves, it is quite universal to sense the magic of the season.

This is the magic that turns social media posts from cynical one-liners to 30 days of Thankfulness, which is without a doubt my favorite time of year to be on Facebook. Attitudes change; people start to see the good again and, if even for a brief moment, lose focus on all the bad. As the world becomes a tougher place, this season becomes even more important; and vital to continue throughout the year.

Thankfulness in Business

In the business world, it becomes all too easy to forget about thankfulness. Discussions become transactions, the bottom line becomes all about the bottom line and every interaction is about how one can win over the other. Maybe that’s not the best way to do business. Maybe the better way is to look out for the good of others, be thankful for the people that choose to invest their hard earned dollars with you and seek to give more than you receive. Maybe, if we work together, this holiday “magical” season can become a turning tide of glad tidings into the new year.

By giving yourself over to the attitude of thankfulness, good can be gained from bad; happiness from heartache; healing from pain. One of our clients, Coach Gary Pritchard, sends out a daily thought of the day, and I feel this one hits right on target. “Gratitude is an art of painting an adversity into a lovely picture.” — Kak Sri
