Random Internet Tangent #16

The average internet user is becoming much more savvy, but there certainly remains a very large educational gap in their ability to navigate and maximize the web for what it’s worth and the understanding of how it operates.

Most users don’t understand what they are using, they only know how to use it. They don’t understand the level of engineering and programming behind their favorite web application. Much like skyscraper builders today. Their process is far more understood than the day of yesteryear when they were first being built. Before, I am sure the process was hard to fathom, but now we understand and appreciate the level of mastery it takes to create. Will internet users eventually have the same appreciation for web mastery?

Due to this, the internet’s use is certainly not refined yet, in the sense that everyone has a voice and demand it be heard despite the noise that may be produced. Social networking is helping to facilitate the daily verbal showdowns. The internet is very egocentric. Some may even consider what I write to be noise. Naturally, everyone has an opinion and subsequently will be heard whether on blogs, podcasts, social networks, etc.

These have been my random internet thoughts.
